Over at Media post there's a piece "Your AI Is Great, But Where's The Creative Magic?" that spells out how fucked up the ad biz has become. 

It is nicely wrapped up with this... And for those who say “But there is no money in ideas” or “the agency business has evolved,” let me remind you that when commercial TV came onto the scene on July 1, 1941, Leo Burnett (a copywriter) had launched his agency in 1935, and David Ogilvy (also a copywriter) came onto the scene in 1948. Walt Disney (an artist) had launched his company with his brother in 1923. There is money in ideas. You just need to figure out how to monetize them.

A British writer recently penned this flawless description of Der Trumpf... Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed. So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief. The clincher comes at the end... If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.

A great comment on a MediaPost article on Der Trumpf's instruction to Walmart to eat the tariffs... "Trump is a clever con man who has managed to convince a largely uninformed electorate that he knows what he is doing and is working on behalf of the working class. He has probably found the limit of his persuasiveness with the mess he is creating with his poorly executed tariff plan. His tariffs are likely a subterfuge for generating revenue to support renewal of his 2017 tax deductions for the wealthy and create a substitute or supplement to the income tax with the equivalent of a national sales or value added tax that the GOP conservatives have been pushing for many years. Despite Trump's efforts to intimidate them, profit oriented corporations will have to pass much of the cost of tariffs to their consumers.

Omnicom coughs up cash.

John Wren, Omnicom head honcho, will be staying on until 2028. Effective June 1, he  is foregoing his $1 million annual salary and other incentives (Last year he made $25 million) in favor of an “at-risk equity award.”  Technically, he still receives a salary of $1 per year. On May 12, he was granted a stock option to purchase 4,000,000 shares of the company’s stock at a per share exercise price equal to the closing price on the day of the grant. In other words, he will trouser gazillions!
