Six months after BDHC Omnicom announced its proposed acquisition of BDHC Interpublic, a UK regulatory body has announced that it is investigating whether the deal would stifle competition in the country. The probe, by the Competition And Markets Authority, was announced May 7. The first step, it said was to solicit comments from “interested parties,” with comments due by May 21. MediaWeek tells us that Deloitte Digital’s new "Marketing Benchmarks Report" describes CMOs caught in a “perfect storm” of tech disruption, shifting customer expectations, and increasing scrutiny from finance teams. About 60% say they have limited control over their budgets,even when they can prove marketing’s return. In my many years of dealing with many CMO wankers, I can tell you that most don't have a clue about advertising, and their average tenure is less than two years.
