I thought I had finished ranting about Cannes for another year, then up popped the news today that Ascential plc, the robber baron parent company of the Cannes Lions festival scam along with other assets relevant to ripping off the ad industry, is weighing a $1.5 billion acquisition offer from British publishing company Informa plc. The new buyer will probably double the number of categories and triple the entry fees... The BDHC’s and their BDA’s will gladly lay off a few thousand and cough up, ‘cos AI is just around the corner.
