On a few occasions I have been accused of being somewhere else. People have recognized me, but I have ignored them. Either doppelgangers exist, or I have had one martini too many.

Another mass shooting, this one in a mall in Allen, twenty miles north of Dallas, Texas. Nine killed, including the gunman, with several more seriously injured. In the US so far this year there have been at least 198 mass shootings in which four or more people were killed or wounded. That is the most at this point in the year since at least 2016. Most adults aged 21 or over in Texas are allowed to carry a handgun without a license. In addition, there are few restrictions on possession of rifles and shotguns. Apparently, the gunman in this shooting used an AR-15 rifle. No doubt the NRA will be sending thoughts and prayers. Is this country fucked, or what?
