My mate, Stephen Foster, head honcho over at Britain’s best ad biz site... “MoreAboutAdvertising,” has a great put-down of the new Budweiser, “Nuns Piss” spot for the Qatar World Cup. The commercial shows Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr and Raheem Sterling entering the arena via a tunnel. As Stephen points out... All three (from different countries) at the same time: have FIFA changed the rules? And someone opens a bottle of Bud – in the tunnel? Can you even drink beer in Qatar? And is it even beer, when in the final shot you see someone flipping off the bottle cap with a finger? And what the fuck are all those people on motor bikes doing in the tunnel?

Sometimes the ad biz does scrape the bottom of the barrel. AdWeek tells us that “Brand tributes to Queen Elizabeth the ll ring hollow with brits.” This according to a research study just released. Apparently, companies such as Dominos, Play Mobil, Stella Artois, Thomas Cook and even the British Kebab Awards (What the fuck is a British Kebab?) quickly released ads and social media tributes to her reign. According to YouGov, over half of Britons said that those messages were driven by PR rather than to sincerely pay respect, with less than a third feeling the messages came from the heart. No shit!!!

While your average billionaire is building rockets, buying multiple mansions and having giant yachts built that are too big to get out of the dock... Yvon Chouinard, the founder of outdoor gear company, Patagonia, is doing something truly worthwhile. Rather than selling the company or taking it public, Mr. Chouinard, his wife and two adult children have transferred their ownership of Patagonia, valued at about $3 billion, to a specially designed trust created to ensure that all of its profits — some $100 million a year — are used to combat climate change and protect undeveloped land around the globe. Thus, taking care of the real world, not some metaverse fantasy.

Over at MediaPost we are told that less than a year after being fired by CNN and being accused of sexual misconduct, Chris Cuomo will once again be anchoring a prime-time newscast, marking one of the fastest exonerations yet in the post-#metoo era. He’s joining Nexstar’s cable and streaming news service NewsNation, with an 8 p.m. time slot branded “Cuomo.” As Joe Mandese points out... “From what I can discern, it is the quickest comeback story yet and may signal a new “half-life” for disparaged media personalities that just a few years ago would have scuttled careers, especially for high-profile TV news anchors. Remember Matt Lauer... Bill O’Reilly... Charlie Rose?”

Sticking with ZuckerNozzle and the Metaverse, over at cnbc.com a Harvard expert tells us that Zuck’s poor leadership skills are slowly dragging Meta toward failure. His shortcomings as CEO are “continuing to derail” the tech giant, according to Bill George, a senior fellow at Harvard Business School. “I think Facebook is not going to do well as long as he’s there. He’s likely one of the reasons so many people are turning away from the company. He’s really lost his way.” And if you need further proof that Zuck is fucked, CNBC’s Jim Cramer says... “Given his past success, it might be unwise to bet against him. I know that this is probably out of fashion, I have total faith in Mark Zuckerberg. I think Zuckerberg’s going to be able to pull off ... the metaverse,” Oh right. This from the guy with the worst stock picking record in the entire universe.

Another fuck up in the Metaverse...

ZuckerNozzle must be pretty pissed today with the news that someone left a Project Cambria VR headset, otherwise known as the Meta Quest Pro, in a hotel room a month before the official launch. The forgotten headset was discovered by a hotel worker, who proceeded to post images of the packaging on a Facebook Oculus site. The packaging includes a sticker clearly stating, "NOT FOR RESALE - ENGINEERING SAMPLE" and carries the Meta Quest Pro branding. He didn't stop at taking photos, though. He also recorded a video of the headset. Ya think Zuc will have him “Taken care of?”

The American football season has begun... Yawn... However, in an attempt to drum up enthusiasm from old geezers like me, the NFL just released its “It Feels Good to Football” campaign, which combines star players with hip-hop stars. A lethal combination of the two things I hate most in the world. Tim Ellis, Chief Marketing douchenozzle at the NFL, informs us that the decision to bring sports and hip-hop stars together is "part our strategy to keep the league at the forefront of culture. It also strategically appeals to our key demographics of youth, women and the Latino community." No old geezers then?

Another Der Trumpf lawsuit fails. Yeh, as if!!!

News on Thursday that a federal judge has thrown out the Obergropenfuhrer’s sprawling lawsuit alleging that Hillary Clinton -- and dozens of others, including ad tech company Neustar -- conspired to undermine his 2016 presidential campaign by falsely accusing him of colluding with Russia. Yeh, as if!!! In his ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks said the core problem with Trump's lawsuit is that his complaint is political, not legal. Yeh, as if!!! “Plaintiff is not attempting to seek redress for any legal harm; instead, he is seeking to flaunt a two-hundred-page political manifesto outlining his grievances against those that have opposed him, and this court is not the appropriate forum,”
