As CEO, Bob Jeffrey, who is a good friend of mine, put it… The genesis of the decision to revive the J. Walter Thompson name is that “this is a year of reigniting the values and soul” of the agency. Now, now, Bob. No need to over-egg it! Long time AdScamers may remember that as I posted several times on AdScam, back in 2006, they changed their name from J Walter Thompson to JWT, thinking it was the hottest fucking idea since the Commodore gave up sailing and took up pimping. In their insane wisdom they also declared themselves to be no longer in the ad biz... They were now “Cultural Anthropologists.” As I said at the time, if I wanted to know who came up with hand tools and stone axes, I’d go up the street to Columbia. In the meantime...
