Once again the new entries in the Apple… “Get a Mac,” campaign kick the shit out of the Microsoft, “I am a PC,” or “laptop hunter” series… It isn’t a matter of how they have developed an iconoclastic style and tone of voice that is unique to Apple over the years they have been running… It’s the fact that unlike most of CP+B’s efforts, irrespective of the client… The Mac ads are calm, relaxed, non-frantic… And, above all, they talk to the viewer as if they have a brain. Unlike everything CP+B seems to do these days. OK, this is not a CP+B rant, it’s just an expression of how I think so many clients fail to get it. You would think that anyone in the desktop, laptop, operating systems business would say to themselves… Those fuckers at Apple are kicking our arse in terms of product innovation and producing “Insanely Great Advertising.” (That’s a famous GodJobs quote… And if you didn’t know that you are a fucktard and should work in the mail room of Enfatico for the rest of your life!) But, do they take any notice? No…And, it’s not their fault… It’s the fucking agencies fault. As I have said ever since I was commanding Caesars legions in trans-alpine Gaul… Never give a client what they want… Give them what they need.
Never, in a million fucking years, would CP+B ever run an ad like this for Microsoft. That's why they will, one day, be fucked!
