News from AdWeek today that Phil Dusenberry died on December 29th. You have to admit that Phil more or less single handedly made BBDO what it is today. Which to be honest, I've never been a big fan of. Too much reliance on "Star Fucking" with a period a few years ago when Cindy Crawford and Jason Alexander seemed to be in every spot they did. Having said that, he did some remarkably good stuff for a very long time, and was consistent in his belief that it was all about "The work." Something way too many of today's BDA's seem to have forgotten. He will be missed.

You have to fucking love the fact that GrandPa Hilton has decided Granddaughter Paris is the world's number one douchenozzle, and should therefore be forced to go out and earn an honest living, instead of being paid hundreds of thousands of fucking dollars to attend "Celebrity" parties in Vegas, and getting the odd royalty from her pathetic, "Here's how I do really, wanky, limp dick blow job videos on YouTube." Anyway, moving on... It's beginning to look like there's a possibility "highly-talented" heiress Paris Hilton might have to work for a living following the announcement by her granddad that he intends to donate 97 per cent of his $2.3bn fortune to charity. Oh, well, excuse me... And I always thought Paris was some kind of basket-case spokeswanker, who would find the time to jump on her private jet and do Rwanda and whatever the current charity gig du jour is, along with Bono. Then jump back on the jet in time for the various award shows, ending up with dinner at "The Ivy." back in good old, and somewhat tarnished, Los Angeles.

Dontcha just love the news today that Van Cleef & Arpels is claiming that super-model Heidi Klum stole her jewelry designs from them. The company is suing Klum, she of the awesome arse and tits, as well as being host of the TV show "Project Runway," in federal court in New York. It would seem that Van Cleef claims Klum's clover pattern is so similar to Van Cleef's vintage Alhambra line, that they create "confusion in the marketplace." Holy fuck... Clover is clover, guys. Besides which, you're both fucking rich!

Van Cleef (wasn't he in al those spaghetti westerns?) alleges in court documents that Klum, owes them damages of $25,000. Shit guys, that's fucking peanuts. She makes more than that just for licking her lips. Anyway... Be like us in the Ad Biz... It's a fucking "Homage!" you should be flattered she chose your shitty clover to rip off!

OK... I'm going to eat a large dose of humble pie here and do a big groveling session to Agency Spy... 'Cos I have to admit I was a bit hard on her the other day. Plus several people have commented on my post and rushed to her defense. Then she even did a post today mentioning me and featuring a picture of me in Larry Craig's favorite hangout. So to return the favor I'll have a picture of her at the end of this post. I honestly wasn't trying to be mean, I just felt that her blog has suffered since it moved over to the MediaBistro location. Yes, they should get the feeds and comments situation sorted out, but even more importantly, I sense the dead hand of, if not censorship, then something that always happens when you don't have a completely free hand regarding not just content, but tone of voice. One of the things I love about Agency Spy (disclosure, I do know her, not in the biblical sense, but personally,) is she takes no fucking shit. For a very beautiful lady, she has very large balls. So C'mon babe, kick those MediaBistro fuckers in the nuts and do your thing. We all loveYa.

Why network news sucks. Particularly NBC!

Benazir Bhutto was assassinated this morning at about 8.00 AM, Eastern time. 6.00 AM here in Boise. I got the news flash on one of my feeds. Then watched live coverage on the BBC TV world news service. It was even on my local channel at 6-30 AM. Then I watched the beginning of this morning's Today show… Lots of coverage the SF Tiger attack, politics and cold cures…They even had a video of a car smashing into a 7/11... But not a single word about the assassination… Not even in the "Current News" section. This is fucking disgraceful… How on earth can NBC consider themselves a news organization when this major international incident happened at least an hour before the program went on air? Unless the program was pre-recorded… Even the current news section. I do not want to see stupid fucking videos of a car smashing into a 7/11. I want to see REAL news. NBC used to be famous for its news division. Now it's a fucking joke, and if I want to see joke news, I'll watch Fox. Thank goodness for the BBC.

Hey... Is it just me, or is AgencySpy becoming increasingly fucked ever since it moved onto the main Media Bistro site? Not only can you not sign up for feeds, but you can't even leave comments... And listen Babe, comments are the life blood of a good blog even if they kick the shit out of you... 'Cos that's part of life's rich tapestry! Even worse, some of the subject matter is starting to get rather lame. The post today about an ex JWT CD working at Starbuck's is about five months late. The book has been a best seller since August. He's been interviewed on every fucking TV and Radio program in the universe... It's old and boring. But... OK, I have to admit, maybe I'm a bit pissed since you created the "No Shit List to end All Lists." Supposedly to get the opinions of big time Ad Wankers and "A-List Blogger's!" And didn't even ask me for my list!!! Particularly as today's NSLTEAL...  Sounds like it was written by me, what with all the references to Draft/FCB and Julie Roehm.... But believe me, it wasn't. And I don't want any AdScam readers to think that it is... 'Cos I don't do anything anonymously. I put my name on everything I fucking write.  So, hey Spy... Get your act together, both in terms of the interactivity of your site, and also in terms of content... If we want to know who has picked up, or lost various accounts... We can always go to AdAge.com. Even worse, all that stuff about GM car sales, or Christmas retail sales are on every fucking page of the MSM. If you insist on posting general news, do it when it's news. I posted about Microsoft getting down to Fallon and CP+B on the 21st, you posted about it today, the 26th. You're supposed to be an Ad Gossip site, so foget week old news and dish the dirt, that's what your readers want. Or, is the problem with that that you will probably get a wrist slap from MediaBistro? Sorry to do this as a post on AdScam... But you can't make comments on AgencySpy, otherwise I would have done it there. Think about what makes a great blog... Content... Clarity.. . Transparency... And above all... Feedback. DearJaneSample, who I am learning to love more and more, every time I go to her blog... And I reservedly say "Her" even though it may be a "He." But then again, who the fuck knows these days? Has a great post about "breaking up" with her douchenozzle agency employer, which is a rip off (Sorry, Homage,) to "breakupemail" a very funny site worth checking out. Anyway, "Jane whatever," makes me wonder if she is unfortunate enough to work for Hughie, Dewy & Louie? In which case, I hope she gets her nude pictures erased from Howard's cell phone before she does the obligatory storm out.
