My post on Catharine Taylor and the whole AdWeek fiasco drew several interesting comments. Firstly, I think Barbara Lippert would be a fine addition to AdAge, not to replace Garfield, cos I like him and his attitude as well. I would however question Tom Messner, who always writes insightful comments, which I much appreciate - (being a fellow "Old Geezer.) - I actually bought Garfield's book "And now a word from me" and found it almost unreadable. But being such a fair minded person!!! I'll try it again. I was probably fucked up on booze at the time. The quote "The advertising trade press seems to be dedicated to the destruction of the trade," could equally apply to AdScam. Come to think of it, that's rapidly becoming my mission in life... Just a joke. No, when I lived in England Campaign magazine played favorites and kicked the shit out of people they didn't like. I think thats merely a trait of all trade publications. I also think it's because, as I said in my post about Stuart Elliott, all the ad mags are written by people who've never worked in advertising. The same is true of that douchenozzle TV fuck up "Mad Men." Not only have none of the writers ever worked in the biz, they were born twenty years after the period they are writing about. Anyway, thanks to everyone for the great comments. Why am I in such a good mood? Don't worry, the bars here in Boise open in twenty minutes, so I'll get cranky later.
In about ten minutes!
