Just had lunch... Well, a few pints, with Ralf Zeigerman, a great Art Director, also known as - "The Cartoonist" - Check out his blog in my links. Lots of good stuff there. We discussed everything that's wrong with the business and agreed it's totally fucked! But it's a very good illustration of why the ad scene here in England seems to be more vibrant right now than the US. Ralph is a German working in an English agency. After the PSFK Conference when a couple of hundred of us went out and destroyed the nearest pub, half the people I met where from all over the globe. They were also much more diverse in their talents and expertise than the average ad person you will meet in the States. It not only generates better work, it also makes people more open minded about the various directions the business should be going. I'm going to post more on that next when I do my summation of the PSFK Conference. But first I have to go for a few more pints with my old mate Simon Taylor from Tomato... Which, if you don't know who they are, you should be ashamed of yourself! Oh... Forgot to say FUCK!
