I get tons of emails from companies and their PR agents touting the latest and greatest in digital jiggery pokery. But today I got one that really made me sit up and think "Now there's a truly great idea." A UK company, Fuss Free Phones, has "uninvented" the telephone dial. To place a call you just lift the handset speak to a telephonist and tell them who you want to speak to. For elderly and others incapacitated this truly is a blessing. All calls are handled in a UK call centre. Here's a lovely short video of one of the telephonists describing what she does. Finally, digital applied to something worthwhile, rather than games and social wankery.
Now I can get my favorite phone out of the closet.
