Richard Whitman over at Mediapssst has an amusing piece on the acquisition of Lucky Generals by TBWA. As he points out, no other business in the world allows companies with stupid names to succeed. Amongst those he lists, my favorite is “Wexley School for Girls.” I also have a soft spot for “High, Wide & Handsome,” ‘cos it was founded by my old mate, John Truscott. John also created an ice cream parlor in Venice CA, which was famous for getting little kids pissed on his lager, stout and ale concoctions! What a guy. Speaking of funny names, perhaps TBWA should go back to its founder’s names… Tragos, Bonnage, Wiesendanger, Ajroldi. An American, French, Swiss, Italian quartet I used to freelance for back in the seventies when they had a single office in Paris.
Ah yes… You can’t beat freelancing in Paris.
