Over at MediaPost, Cory Treffiletti has a piece… “Future of the ad agency heard in the language of advertising.” It goes on and on about how the lines are getting blurred between agencies and consultancies, arriving at the conclusion that the future of Advertising is Marketing! Hasn’t it always been that? He explains… Agencies will succeed if they automate their basic executional elements and can broaden their role to engage in more efforts outside of paid media. This is doable when they continue down the path of consolidation and delivering value across all of the tools. They need control over all the arrows in the quiver, and need to know when to shoot which ones. Man that’s a load of cobblers. Then I see that Mr. Treffiletti is CMO Marketing, Oracle Data Cloud… Oh fuck, is Larry still doing all the ads personally?
I said "make the bloody logo bigger."
