So Google just bought Nest for $3.2 BILLION dollars. And what does Nest do that makes it worth that much money? Well, in almost three years they’ve launched two products. A thermostat (a steal at $250) and a smoke detector (a give-away for $130)… But, you can connect them to your iPad or iPhone, which means you can regulate the temperature in your house from a million miles away. And if you turn the heat too high and set fire to your house you can call the fire brigade from a million miles away. But they’ll probably already be on the way, ‘cos the neighbors will have seen the flames and called them. You see it’s all part of this “Internet of Everything” everyone is so fucking steamed up about currently. You know, your fridge can order milk and your lights go on when it gets dark. Funny, I remember hearing all that shit at Comdex back in the eighties.
And that was in 1958!
