Following on from my post of yesterday about J. C. Penney’s hiring of the world’s dumbest agency, Victors and Spoils, AdAge has a report on what reads like a giant cluster fuck. The new CMO of the foundering retailer called an immediate agency review (don’t they always?) And did the whole thing in three fucking weeks. Hey, I’m all for not dragging things out, the way most reviews do, but I don’t like the sound of… “In the end, the campaign idea presented by Doner won over the J. C. Penney team.” So that means the half dozen or so agencies taking part had three weeks to come up with SPEC work (obviously without compensation) for a major client. Mind you, the big question is… What the hell was the SPEC campaign Victors and Spoils presented, and how the fuck were they able to crowdsource it in three weeks? Boy is this business getting more and more fucked up by the day, or what?
Blondi and I crowdsourced Europe in less than 3 weeks!
