I share Tom’s feeling that the latest “Mot du Jour” – Big Data – In common with most of the shit people spray each other with in an attempt to sound on top of whatever is currently hot, is nothing more than the scaling up of old stuff to a Titanic sized, unsinkable, turd that will in months have been flushed down the toilet of last year’s big thing. Phew… I feel better for getting that off my chest. There’s an amazingly dumb piece on MediaPost titled “We are all Data Scientists now!” Oh no we are fucking not, you wanker! The writer claims that everyone in marketing is now a data scientist. Even creative’s, ‘cos math has always been an underlying factor in great art, and the artists of the Renaissance all used iMacs to work out perspective and shit. OK, I made that last bit up, but he does talk a load of fucking tripe. As Mr. Spock would say… It does not compute, Captain!
