Hey… Has anyone noticed that the W+K spot for Coke during the upcoming Super Bowl, which has obviously had the shit pimped out of it since the final whistle on last year’s Super Bowl, features a cast of cowboys, badlanders and showgirls, chasing the mythical giant bottle of Coke… But, has anyone made the connection to the various film homages W+K has sucked the marrow out of? The cowboys are derived from a million John Wayne movies, the badlanders are obviously based on Mad Max… And the showgirls driving around in a fucking pink bus… Gotta be Priscilla Queen of the Desert… A very funny and exceptionally great movie about two drag queens and a transsexual enduring the uber masculine trauma of the OZ interior… With big hats off to Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce, and Terence Stamp for giving their all in totally unexpected roles. The Coke spot won’t even come close. But, then again, it is just a poxy fucking commercial!
