As an update on my post of late yesterday about the Ogilvy layoffs… They started at 4.30 PM, Monday, 9th of December: More are anticipated today… Just two weeks before Christmas… Great timing guys. This allows management enough cooling off time before the much anticipated Christmas party on the 20th. I am sorry to keep beating this drum, but David would be shocked and extremely upset to see what has become of the global agency network, which Noreen O’Leary described in an AdWeek interview with him, as his greatest pride. An organization that he built from scratch and which never deviated from his iron clad and wonderful principles… Until it was swallowed by WPP. Now it is nothing more than an entry on a balance sheet whose sole purpose is feed the bottom line, prop up the share price, and pay the flower bill for the Gramercy Park love nest. What a fucking tragedy!
