I am a dedicated New York Times reader… The hard copy version. Yes, I can get it on line, but I still like my newspaper to be on fucking paper… All right. Living in the Fourth Reich, the only paper you can get delivered is the Idaho Statesman, or the “Bronco Bugle” as I call it, ‘cos 90% of it is the local football team, even when there’s no fucking football season. Anyway, I go down to the local supermarket and buy my NYT there… But, to the point, Last Sunday’s main news section, as usual had lots of ads for uber expensive tchotchkes on the first two, inside pages… 3 for diamonds, a Chanel bag for $2,800, five for watches, the cheapest being $2,000 and for poor unfortunate wretches like me, a crocodile belt for a mere $235. So, here’s my question… Who the fuck is buying this shit, and are they honestly buying it because of these ads? Anyway, I buy my $3,000 watches on Canal Street for $30.
Cartier Sir... No problem, I'll even throw in a Rolex!
