AdScamer “johnjohn” has pointed us in the direction of the Draft/FCB blog. Which is described in the introduction as… A collaborative blog written by the employees of Draftfcb, one of the world's largest ad agencies. It's a chance for us to share our thoughts, insights and opinions on the state of the ad industry and business in general. Because, let's face it, there's a lot to talk about. Well fuck yes. But apparently they are maintaining the grand Enfatico blog tradition of having the poor fuckers who work there, post about once every six weeks. Maybe they are too fucking busy to talk… Or Like this post from a lady in Mexico City… It's difficult to stay in the “here and now.” We live our lives ahead of our time because the future is intriguing and captivating. We try to understand the future and to anticipate to it, that is the core of innovation mindset… They don’t have anything worth reading. Time to “Rumble!”

As my mate Chris, points out in an email, according to AdAge… When it hired CP+B, MetLife was seeking a partner to take it out of its comfort zone. "The kind of agency we are looking for might make us uncomfortable," the type of shop it wanted needed be strategically smart, deeply curious, hungry for innovation, creatively inventive and willing to take risks. MetLife in the brief also noted it was searching for ways to avoid commoditization, though it wasn't readily clear if that meant from a brand standpoint or with its media buys, and to cope with generational changes among its customers. Then it pointed out that it will continue to employ its brand's ambassador, Snoopy, the other "Peanuts" characters and the MetLife blimps in its advertising. Holy fucking shit… Alex must be wetting himself with laughter in “The Shed.”

So, Met Life finally pulled the plug on Y&R after 65 fucking years…Peanuts and Snoopy are toast… But hey, Y&R milked that fucker to death. The world’s dumbest campaign paid Mr. Shultz fucking millions while creaming the client for fucking billions… So, now it’s off to CP+B, where we can look forward to DeadenNuts, or ManNuts, or bare chested, big bellied, insurance salesmen with fake moustaches pulling NutsSleds, while drinking zero calorie beers. Hey, who the fuck knows… Hey, even more so… Who the fuck cares?

rebates are a wank!

I just bought my wife a new computer (No, not a fucking Mac!) An HP… As usual, it came with all kinds of discounts and rebates, one of which was a $50 mail in rebate. To get it you had to enclose copies of the receipt, a coupon and half the fucking box it came in. I just got an email telling me the rebate is being processed and I will get a check in TWELVE FUCKING WEEKS! What the fuck is that all about… In twelve weeks, $50 will be worth $25, and when it doesn’t arrive, they probably reckon I will have forgotten about it. But I won’t, I’ve had it fucking tattooed on my head. 

Now if Kate would personally deliver it!!!

As if privacy concerns weren’t providing enough problems for the world’s biggest social network (now claimed to have three hundred trillion users!) ZuckerNozzle must have pissed himself when he read about the woman in Florida who killed her three month old kid ‘cos the poor little fucker’s crying was interrupting her playing of Farmville!!! Holy fucking shit… It makes you wonder just what the fuck is going on?

There’s a rather astonishing TV spot running in Britain right now to raise awareness of “Poppy Day.” Which is the same as Veterans Day over here. At noon on that day, two minutes of silence for all those lost in war is observed at the Cenotaph War Memorial in London. That’s the only hint I’ll give you about the content of this spot. You can see a video and read all about it in this issue of The Sun newspaper. Very occasionally, advertising does something worthwhile. And you don’t have to have a shed to do it in.

 Actually, George, Hal would have sent them back to their offices with orders that they not come back until they'd created a campaign that wasn't a repeat of the client's strategy statement. Possibly he would have closed his office door, sat down at his ancient typewriter, sipped on a glass of whiskey, smoked a cigarette or two. One of my trusty sources informs me that major layoffs are happening tomorrow at Draft/FCB… No details yet, but it wouldn’t surprise me… Howard needs a new Aston Martin, “Idgy” needs a “Rumble” and Reverend Boschetto needs to get his barbells gold plated… Hey, the fucking money has to come from somewhere. No doubt Michael Roth will award himself a celebratory “performance” bonus.
