I know you’re never going to fucking believe this, but I absolutely agree with something Alex said during the launch of his new book… “Baked In,” which I won’t piss on, ‘cos I haven't read it yet… When asked about the future of advertising and if he feels that traditional mass media will be left behind. He rejected the use of the word “mass” saying how today its more about targeting specific niche markets, giving the example that a prime time TV show these days will only reach a small percentage of TV viewers. There are so many channels that everyone is able to watch something based on their specific interests. In his opinion, traditional forms of media will not disappear but continue to layer upon each other. I think he’s correct, ‘cos I have said the same thing many times… And yes in my last book “The Ubiquitous Persuaders.” Which you can’t piss on either, unless you’ve bought it! And just to make loyal AdScammers throw up even more, I also agree with something else he said… Whenever I sat down to a business book I've almost always had the same critique, "It would have made a nice pamphlet." This really wasn't a slam because many of these books were favorites and became an important part of how I looked at business moving forward. It's just that these books all had a great idea and they did a terrific job getting it across but then they just kept repeating the same concept. Don’t worry, I’ll get back to kicking his fucking arse tomorrow!
Hopefully this makes up for my lapse!
