Remember my post of yesterday about the MPG layoffs? (The ad trades are just reporting on it today) Well, here’s some background information. Apparently it’s more about the Spanish management (the Rodes family) than the French. The Spanish ownership of Havas Media headed up by Alfonso Rodes and, in turn, Maria Luisa Francoli who’s head of MPG global decided – in their infinite wisdom – that it would be a great idea to hire a head honcho with zero fucking experience whatsoever in the ad biz (Think Anne Fudge + Y&R = Giant Fuck Up) – neither with a media agency nor with a traditional ad agency. Shaun Holliday joined the firm in January ’09 and without a vision nor a strategy decided to make some slashing -cut backs. This wankers claim to fame is that he has his MBA from Kellogg… Meaning that in common with all MBA’s he’s a douchenozzle. The Spanish group knows fuck all about the North America market and will not allow themselves to be disabused of their misperceptions by facts. This is not a group that takes kindly to either advice or criticism. So, apologies to the French… “Time to singe the King of Spain’s beard!” Subtle historical reference for my more fucking perspicacious readers!!!
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
