Check out this fucking uber lame brain Web site inviting all the brain dead principals of brain dead BDA's to come to San Francisco and learn about "The New Realities!" Or, as they say in the first paragraph... We live in challenging times, and today’s communications industry leaders are confronted with increasingly complex issues and new realities. The 2009 4A’s Leadership Conference will tackle how the new realities in the economy, politics, marketing, media, creative, agency management and global affairs are affecting advertising and communications. Right on, all you BDA clown people dumb enough to fall for this shit, listen up... You can join this wank fest for just a mere $2,045 per person... Hotel not included, but don't worry, they have a special rate for you at just $269 a night. Ha, fucking ha... What parallel universe do these people live in?
Dude... It's the AAAA Leadership Conference shit... Party on!!!

My dear god, George! That description of the seminar is just one for the ages. How braindead can you get?! If the people targeted for the 4A's sessions don't yet have a clue as to how to deal with these "complex issues and new realities," they should not be in this industry.
And, wasting their companies' money on a total waste of time like this seminar should be a crime in a day when so many people are losing their jobs (your earlier post on the Arnold layoffs puts it in perspective).
You know, the wankers who run the 4A's should know better than that. Who they fuck are they kidding??

obviously they hope to kid quite a few people out of many thousands of dollars...

Um, 4A's Leadership is an oxymoron. Or is it a contradiction in terms?

I think this AAAA's campaign is up for a Cannes Lion. Anyone know who the agency and ECD are?

the 4As has been irrelevant since its inception.
just a couple of years ago, while the world was moving online and the ad business was crumbling, their advertising week in new york featured brand mascots like the green giant and tony the tiger they were asking people to vote on...what the fuck???

$2045?
Ironically, that's exactly the amount Draft/FCB pays its ACD's per annum. Copywriters, even less.

The people who pay for these events are the ones who need to validate their titles by attending an event with the word "Leadership" in it. Truth is these events are probably more often created by meeting planners who are hungry for commissions than actual ad industry people (if I'm wrong on this particular event, don't ream me out).

Auntie, you nailed it. It is meeting planners and "professional association people" who run the 4A's. I started my career at an association in Washington, DC. These associations are run by bland people who never actually worked in the real world environment of an agency (or any type of business). It is all reports, meetings, lobbying, kiss arse and newsletters...wow!
I got out of there as fast as I could.
Yes, that is who put together this "leadership" conference. You were dead one, Auntie!

YAY! Let's all overuse the word relevant.
It's this decade's "proactive".
It's the word to use if you want to sound hip and in tune with BizSpeak®.
R U "relevant"?

I wonder how many versions they went thru to get from "we're fucked" to "new realities" as the word "change" was already taken and not really meaning anything good right now.
I will however use it whenever I get the chance to interview again "well Dave, the new realities of the industry mean that I'm lying about my age, experience, salary and aversion to giving blowjobs for benefits..."
