News yesterday that Dell is cutting 1,900 jobs in Ireland must be pissing the Poisoned Dwarf off. Not only is this a sign that in common with most other high tech companies, the recession is really starting to hurt (IBM and Microsoft are about to lay off thousands.) It's also not a good sign for Enfatico - Which is still showing its solitary Indian campaign as an example of its "revolutionary" approach to advertising. Since the Poisoned Dwarf has moved WPP corporate headquarters to Ireland to avoid paying UK taxes, maybe he could move Enfatico headquarters to Ireland in a cost cutting effort. Regular doses of Guinness might stimulate the creative juices. Fuck knows they need something to get them of their arses and producing some decent work.
Fuck the Irish and their leprechauns!

Interesting to note it's all the blue collar jobs - the sales and marketing people are safe. I hope everyone laid off goes on the dole and any tax breaks Dell gets are diminished to make up for it.

The Irish govt. has provided approx $150 million in grants and incentives for Dell to locate their factories in Ireland.
They are seeking to recapture these incentives as Dell violated the agreements.

This was actually in the works two years ago:

Interesting to note that the 1,000 person initial workforce was projected to expand to 3,000 -- ABOUT NOW.

Ps:
Dell is Ireland's second-largest corporate employer, its biggest exporter, and, in recent years, has contributed about 5pc to national gross domestic product.

George,
Years ago I shot with Graeme Clifford for Geico. On the shoot, he said American beer is like "making love in a canoe...it's fucking close to water."
I will say the beer in Europe, all of Europe is better than the beer here.
Cheers.
