Wanna work in a zoo? Talk to the Zoo!!!
TalentZoo, which is just one of the many employment agencies out there peddling jobs in dumb companies for dumb salaries, has a doozie listing for an Account Director-Gaming at Draft/FCB, San Francisco. Read it for a laugh. It is written in the usual soporific corporate bullshit... But here's the intro... Draftfcb is a full service global advertising agency in San Francisco. We have boundless enthusiasm for what we do everyday. We empower people at all levels and that breeds pride of ownership. We get excited when we solve a problem. We like each other. We have fun at work. Oh, well fuck me... We have fun at work... Not according to my Draft/FCB spies scattered around the Hughie, Dewey & Louie empire!
Yeah... Fucking right!!!

Georgie,
Why are you writing about this shit when there is much better shit to be had?
Did you see what Michael Wolff (author of The Man Who Owns the News) said about mySpace:
"If you're on MySpace now, you're a (bleeping) cretin. And you're not only a (bleeping) cretin, but you're poor"

Gold!
...I also haven't seen a Hitler picture in a while.

"....our Electronic Arts team."
What the fuck is that?
Posted by: Auntie Christ | December 02, 2008 at 03:58 PM
EA? Then it involves product placements of brands within the game titles owned by EA, which is the evil Empire equivalent of Microsoft...
Posted by: slowmo | December 02, 2008 at 04:52 PM
Actually, EA is a client of Draftfcb. Here's one of the spots:

As I said before, if someone doesn't like their job/workplace, they should stop complaining about it, and get a new one.

somebodyatdraftfcb,
Check out this job listing:
http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/mar/938331600.html
Seems the Chicago office is struggling mightily to keep a recruiter for any extended period. Sources indicate the turnover for the role is so severe, staffers can’t even keep the names and faces straight anymore. Looks like the recruiters at Draftfcb are taking your advice and getting out ASAP. Wonder why that is. It’s gotta be tough to recruit world-class talent when you can’t even recruit recruiters.
Posted by: somebodyshittingondraftfcb | December 02, 2008 at 10:46 PM
actually that spot sucked.
not sure it can really be a spot if all they did was edit footage from the video game, remix a crap soundtrack and close out on a logo, can it? really, what did that take, 15 minutes and $35?
with that as a showpiece, i can see why recruiters might have a hard time enticing people to enter.
read the listing. wow. anyone there proof it? apparently they don't need a recruiter, they need a recruiter, HR director, ECD, managing director, production coordinator, account supervisor and admin. assistant.
no wonder they can't keep anyone.

and about Wolff's comments... he's only about 1 year too late...
Posted by: the lower depths | December 03, 2008 at 05:00 AM
Somebody, please continue to prove our points for us.
Putting images of violence to an incongruous soundtrack has been done a lot in video game spots, so that isn't anything stellar. And did DraftFCB come up with "Wishtory"? That's pretty terrible. Maybe Sears did so you get a pass on that one.
Posted by: Auntie Christ | December 03, 2008 at 08:21 AM
Well, the old timers around here aren't exactly the target audience for that spot, haha. It's just about universally well received among gamers, precisely because the soundtrack was so different from the norm. It got over a million hits on youtube in 10 days, and the follow-up making-of video did about the same. The spot created for Red Alert also performed very well:

Sears is not a client.
Also, speaking of the Chicago office, I didn't read anything on here about their part in the $400 million MillerCoors win. Good news about draftfcb ignored on adscam - what a shocker! Actually, nevermind. Nobody wants to read George saying nice things about anybody.
Posted by: somebodyatdraftfcb | December 03, 2008 at 07:15 PM
Hey somebody...
Fuck yourself, douchenozzle... Go kiss Howard's ass.
Is that nice enough for you?
Cheers/George

Perfect! haha

somebodyatdraft,
I wouldn’t call the MillerCoors project a “win” any more than the Kmart account was a win. An existing client hands you a project. Big deal. Did Draftfcb have a shootout for that prize? Even if they did, it’s irrelevant, as MillerCoors shops suck. BTW, you didn’t respond to my observations regarding the Chicago office and its search for recruiters. Guess you don’t want to deal with the matters that don’t interest you too, huh?
Posted by: somebodyshittingondraftfcb | December 03, 2008 at 10:58 PM
Well shitty, of course the win is irrelevant. Since draftfcb won, therefor it has to be, right? There was a shootout. From what I've read, Draftfcb & its partners beat the Miller agency, who were favored to win. Only in the strange world of Adscam's comment section is $400 million irrelevant.
The reason I didn't respond to your big recruiter revelation is because it's silly. Every agency has turnover. This is a real big agency, so there's more turnover. Only in this strange world is one job posting on craigslist an indictment of an entire agency.
"Your sources indicate." Puh-lease. You and George and your vast spy network. Here's my imitation of an email from one of George's deep throats:
Dear George,
Got a great top-secret inside scoop for you. Wait until you hear it! You'll want to post this one right away! Ready, here it is:
I am sad. :(

hey somebody, my nephew told me that spot blew chunks like the game, so is he your target audience?
or are you more specific in your demographic:
we need a spot that speaks to one 32 yr. stock clerk, still living at home, with really bad halitosis and no chance of ever having sex that likes crappy games where shit just blows up.
oh yeah, the "red remix", praised by steve hall, wow. so he's your target audience? listen, squirrels farting get a million hits on youtube, that's no indication of sales and or effectiveness.
as for the soundtrack, jeez, what rock are you hiding under? or don't you watch other spots for games? GTA, Halo, Assassins Creed ALL have bitchin', away from the norm soundtracks to their trailers, teasers and spots. really, go do some competitive research...
Posted by: the lower depths | December 04, 2008 at 05:31 AM
as for "winning" a $400M account from an existing client via a shootout with the Miller agency...
congratulations.
have you googled the Miller agency? you should check out your competition, are these the guys you "won" over?
http://www.milleraa.com/portfolio.html
the competition must have been fierce.
Posted by: the lower depths | December 04, 2008 at 05:40 AM
Somebodyatdraftfcb forgot to mention that Miller is a media win, not creative.
Posted by: Auntie Christ | December 04, 2008 at 07:27 AM
Auntie Christ,
But it was still a shootout, dammit. They won it with pride and dignity and smarts.
Posted by: Draft Dodger | December 04, 2008 at 01:19 PM
...and a case or two of Effen, perhaps.
Posted by: Auntie Christ | December 04, 2008 at 01:44 PM
somebodyatdraftfcb...
My vast spy network!!! Who the hell outed... Nigel the Spy,
Draftfcb London. I'm with AC and LD. It was fucking media, which is based on money, not creative, and can be here today and gone tomorrow...
Kinda like Wal-Mart. Remember them?
"They won it with pride and dignity and smarts." Fuck me, what the hell are you smoking? Cheers/George
Posted by: George Parker | December 04, 2008 at 05:37 PM
George,
the pride and dignity line was my cynical commentary.
