Microsoft redefines masochism!!!
Apparently Microsoft is a glutton for punishment when it comes to deciding who will be next in line to produce really bad advertising for them. We suffered through years of McCann shit with the fucking "Butterfly Guy" and other atrocities. Now we have the Florida frat boys moving on from the Seinfeld disaster to the "I am a PC" embarrassment. So what has Microsoft just gone and done? Only awarded their Zune music player business to CP+B! So now we can look forward to an "I am an iPod/Not" campaign. probably shot by fucktards pretending to be cool and groovy, while in fact, looking fucking stupid. No doubt, it will clean up at Cannes.
CP+B launches new outdoor campaign!

No matter how tired, ineffective and borderline-embarrassing CP+Bs work has become, there will be more than enough just-out-of-ad-school retards wholl buy Boguskys dieting book and think, dude, this is, like, the greatest, most original shit ever!

what really gets me is that all the newbies coming out of ad camps are looking at work that CPB foists on their clients and think to themselves this is where its at!... lets do this for the eyeglass account were on!... well be heroes!
and so messaging gets dumber, efforts get more flacid and pretty soon, all your client will want is some guy strangling a chicken wearing gloves with your logo on them while some lame Euro-trash disco band loop plays in the background.
can anyone honestly say they like the i am a PC crap? and because youre a PC, how does that help with the jeans you design? or the cheese you like? or any of the myriad spewings that were sent in via cheap cameras from all around the world?
whats next, im an ipod and so can you ???
apologies to Colbert....

Ill be interested to see what they can do for Zune, given that Creative came up with better mp3 player products and still lost the market to the latecomer Ipod.
My gripe with Ipod and Mac i.e. the sound quality is not that good.
However trying to market Zune against iPod must take note of one thing i.e. the iTunes stranglehold on the music industry.
Microsoft needs to make its online music store even more user-friendly than iTunes.
Good luck...

sorry, slomo, i had one of those Creative mp3 players, they bit the big one for usability... complete crap on the interface, which, i suspect, is why apple came away on top...
as for the sound quality, you can rip your tunes at a higher sampling rate, but how discerning are your ears when your out in traffic or stuck on mass transit? it is a relief to just hear something other than the normal sounds of the city, to me...
the sound quality might be more of a headphones issue?

back to CPB and Microsoft, for a second: i wonder what hope Zune has to stay relevant as they offer more expensive, less roomy players that dont live up to the sharing promise...
might make it a bit of a hard sell when you compare them to ipods nanos... even for the tried and true CPB approach: do something lame and use real people, that gives it that cinema verité edge and makes it real, just like the hordes of people you dont really want to meet that are PCs...

add to the list of complaints to typepad: they are leaving out the ampersands also...
seems like anything that requires the shift key doesnt get recorded... it shows up when i type the comment, but disappears when posted...
maybe something having to do NOT recognizing possible coding syntax, like apple when you try to name something with hash-marks or other typographical notations...

what happens with
Posted by: sean | November 17, 2008 at 09:12 AM
nope. that didnt work.
Posted by: sean | November 17, 2008 at 09:13 AM
the only ways Zune will get adoption are as an ad-funded MVNO (ala Blyk) or a WiFi-based phone.

Oh LD, Im quite anal about sound quality ever since the record industry tries to up the audio intensity at the cost of contrast.
If you want a recommendation, try Sony Ericcsons new mp3 player and youll hear the difference, especially since they throw in one of their best earphones. Maybe the earphones are the issue...

And LD, there are people who got into top agencies in other countries after doing their internships at Crispin so you cant blame the noobs for worshipping Crispin.
Personally I prefer Wieden and Martin.
