As my mate "Tanner" points out, today’s WSJ chronicles how Microsoft is launching a $300 million ad campaign Sept. 4th to combat its stodgy image versus Macs. The campaign will feature Jerry Seinfeld (who they are paying $10 million.) Another celeb mentioned could be Chris Rock. Who, as Tanner points out will not be getting $10 million to say "motherfucker' throughout the spots. Seinfeld last did spots for AmEx a couple of hundred years ago, and has been out of circulation, with the exception of his wanky "Bee" since. As you probably know, we owe all this to the Frat Boys from Crispin Porter who won the $300 million project to convince the public that MS Vista isn’t fucked up, and combat the fact that MAC sales have outpaced PCs by 41% versus a year ago. Based on CP+B's track record with celebs... "Deadenbacher" and Miller "Man Laws." I'm looking forward to see what "Pie in the face" executions we can expect. Interesting tit bit from Tanner... Every episode of Seinfeld filmed in Jerry’s NYC apartment has one consistent prop on the set. A Mac Classic (13” screen variety) sitting on his desk by the window. Mmmm... Shades of the Enfatico offices!!! Oh... More on the Frat Boys to follow. Stay tuned.
Not Hitler... But close!
