Draft/FCB's recruitment video rears its ugly head... Again!

Remember the post I did on the 29th of July about the fucking hilarious video featuring Hughie, Dewey and Louie telling new employees of Draft/FCB exactly what they can look forward to. Well, AdScammer, Nina, who sent me the thing is now being bombarded with emails from the guy who sent it to her, some douchenozzle by the name of Kestrel Lee... That's right "Kestrel," who is seriously pissed that she would pass it on to me. Or, as he puts it in one of his many emails... "You should understand the context of this video before sending it anywhere. it's not top secret as we show this to our clients and suppliers, as well as potential recruits, clients and even other agencies. However, you should have asked my permission before you rip it off and posted it on a public blog to be ridiculed by people without knowing the context." So, Kestrel... That's the whole point, it's not top secret, you have shown it to everyone in the fucking world, and the only reason it's being ridiculed, is because it's fucking ridiculous! And finally, there must be something seriously fucked up going on in your head if you show this to other agencies!!!

No hit on Linkedin but a Facebook search reveals Kalen, I mean Krestel works at DraftFCB Singapore. I'm sure he'll soon be making a death march to his supervisor's office where he'll be horsewhipped by HR.

They show this to suppliers? Seriously? To impress them into giving great prices or do they think it's actually important that a printer or production company has to know what the Wheel is about? And Krestel, what does "without knowing the context" mean? As George points out, even if we "knew the context", this is still an embarassment. Besides, you've explained the context -- an introduction to the agency and HD&L, nothing more.

I think we've heard the last from "Kalen."

Hi, I'm sorry but that's no excuse. I wanted to have your opinion on Draftfcb after seeing the video, rather than just take Howard Draft as the face of my agency.

I did not send you the video. Nor did I give you permission to circulate this video nor to rip it off without my knowledge. It was for your eyes only. And my emails stated as such.

I expect an apology from you and to ask George to take it off. Because I also did not give you any permission to send it to anyone else. These are the facts against your action

Kindly do the right thing, especially if you are critical of others for the behaviour such as Howard Draft.

So, let me see if i understand this correctly. Kestrel sends this video to Nina. Nina runs (?not sure) a site called "Fuck Howard Draft" (Nice one, Nina!). If kestrel's objective was to know people's opinion of Draft after seeing the video, I'd say this whole thing was a resounding success.

This is all starting to make sense. You know that the Draftfcb PR/communications wankers must have mandated that staffers never share internal documents/correspondence/videos with outsiders sans approval from the PR/communications department. That’s SOP at any BDA these days. But it’s tough to control offices outside of the U.S. Such are the challenges of integration with global enterprises. So some well-intentioned international worker walks right into a landmine by forwarding stuff to a hostile recipient. Oh well. In the future, Draftfcb should just send everything directly to Parker. Hell, give him access to the company servers. He’s gonna eventually get it all anyway.

Compare his English with Kalen's. No doubt who Kalen is. So the guy likes his job and where he works, no crime. He reads something negative from Ms. Aldridge and thinks maybe this piece of fluff that had him fooled might impress her. It doesn't. It doesn't impress anyone. He tries to bail the lifeboat out and some US people jump to his defense, but they are just as full of crap as he is and the whole thing snowballs. Lesson learned? DON'T RELEASE AGENCY INFORMATION. They have a PR department for a reason- to control this stuff.

The saddest part is that these are all marketing professionals who couldn't posit a persuasive argument. How can they sell their client's goods and services if they couldn't sell us this?

You are on the money; they do NOT look comfortable sitting together. I sure got a sense they are (1) cold as reptilian blood; (2) have no chemistry between them (rumor has it Laurence despises Jonathan as a threat); and (3) offer no motivation to anyone to either work for or with them. They talk in tongues and over people's heads.

I recall the days of agency videos that depicted them (genuinely so) as fun places to work, approachable honchos and highlighting the best work for clients of which the agency was most proud. The Draft/FCB video is anything but. It's also missing a couple of key words on the "supered in" slides:
