More on the Mindshare theft of a Cannes Lion!
There's a long and excruciatingly boring piece on Marketing Daily about the giant fuck up when Mindshare won a Bronze lion at Cannes for something SS+K had done about a hundred years before. Marketing Daily, after massive ammounts of journalistic research points out that Mindshare's CEO sat on the jury that awarded the prize... No, you fucktards, he didn't sit on the jury... He chaired the fucking Jury... There's a really big difference when it comes time to twist arms and swing the vote in your company's favor. Anyway, read the whole thing for all the sordid details, but it does go on and on... When all you have to take from it is the revelation that the voting at Cannes was fixed... Well, what a fucking surprise.
And the winner is... Mindshare!!!

I was once on the panel of the student D&AD's in London. I was disgusted at the total lack of interest the rest of the panel had for the work.
Not trying to make myself look good here (much), but I made time to look at each and every piece (there were 100s) and make notes. It wasn't totally altruistic, it get me out of the office for an afternoon, supping free wine.
The rest of the group (I won't name them) spent 15 mins glancing at the work before buggering off to their private cars.
I work with a lot of students, either doing talks, or sharing briefs, interviewing interns etc. The least their passion, dedication, hard-work and naive enthusiasm deserves is a little bit of our time.
I wonder if the effort students put in, and will put in over the years ahead are really worth it if all it really takes in this industry to win awards is friends on the inside?
Oh well, Mindshare of off my Xmas card list...that'll teach 'em :)
