Scoops are us!
My pal Bruce has been kind enough to forward this from Howard Lazare's ad column in today's Chicago Sun Times... "Rumors swirled this week about the fate of Rivet, an agency spun off from Draft FCB earlier this year to handle account conflicts that surfaced when Draft and Foote Cone & Belding merged last year. Chicago-based Lor Gold and Yvonne Furth exited Draft FCB to run Rivet. A call to Rivet's main phone number on Wednesday produced a recorded message that didn't include the firm's name, but asked callers to leave a message. Furth did not return a phone call. Sources said Rivet was in the midst of moving to new office space, which may have caused the confusion. But sources close to developments also said Rivet did lay off 10 staffers in its New York office to put staffing in line with client needs, even as Rivet is said to be contemplating international expansion." New office space my arse. And a fucking recorded message on the phone. Who the fuck are they kidding. The circus has left town... And they've taken all the monkeys with them! Remember, you read it here first, four days ago.
.
Fuckin' A!

Bit of a typo there, George...it's Lewis Lazare, not Howard Lazare. You've got too much Draft on the brain.

We just heard that the entire NYC Rivet office (including The Sloan Group and ProHealth) just vacated their former offices @ 23rd Street and moved back up to the 100 W. 33rd Street DFCB location. Sort of defeating the original idea of separating the "agencies" in order to give clients the impression that there were no competitive/conflicting accounts in the same agency/location. Well, I guess there are no conflict accounts left at these agencies anymore, (both AT&T and Qwest are gone now), so why not just move back into the same space? For that matter, there really is no longer a need for a "conflict agency" at all...
