Hey BBD&O... Did Cindy Crawford drop dead?
OK… So here’s my question. Is it possible that Star-Fucking agency BBDO New York could actually do a spot for a major brand without using a fucking star? I just watched their latest effort for Mountain Dew about a couple of geeks that CG Chuck Norris’s head on an ostrich and get a few geeky-yucks out of it… Then guess what? The real Chuck Norris shows up and chases them all over the New York roofscape. But, ‘cos it’s a commercial, instead of beating the living daylights out of them. he just confiscates their can of Mountain Dew, then kicks the shit out of them via his own CG version of them as puppets… I think… But laugh… I wet my knickers with total boredom. One good thing though, I haven’t seen Cindy Crawford, Jason Alexander, or Donald Trump in a BBD&O $10 billion spot for a couple of months now. Maybe they can do a deal with the Aflac duck, or Ben Afleck. Makes no difference really.
.
.
I would do anything to get into advertising!

A Chuckie Norris chase for a can of Mountain Dew, sounds like a walk around the block to say nothing, yep it's BBD&O

wow. i can smell that from here. next is jackie chan using ______ and getting ______ as a result. (fill in any predictable scenario here, it won't matter).
it was better than the "3 V-dubs for under $17K" with the super crappy CG cars closing sequence from CPB (i assume).

This video clip of Julie Roehm's induction into the AAF Hall of Fame for under 40's is sure to delight:

Billy...
That's a funny video... Why do I have the impression it was scripted by Julie herself...
Charles...
The dog is mine. It's a Mongolian Crotch Sniffer. Very rare. You might get a download at ...

There again... Maybe not.
Roy...
Yeah, typical BBD&O shit.
Marino...
Between BBD&O's lazy "What star can we use this week and get the client to pay through the nose for?" To CP+B's "What's the most stupid thing we can do this week and get the client to pay through the nose for?" I can't make up my mind which I'd rather not watch.
Cheers/George

There’s also a Steven Segal Mt. Dew clip. But I like Steven. I say that only because I'm afraid of him a lot more than I am Walker, Texas Ad man.

Great, I spelled his name wrong, now I'm a dead man. Anyway, here's the clip:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VYLCP0JeIU

so that's BBD&0 got the idea from...that's an old clip of Seagal and funnier...
Norris doesn't do much of anything in the new rerun except stand there...not much chasing, just kind of shows up like Michael Myers or Jason and puts his fists together...
shouldn't they have gotten him a better rug at least?

You know *someone's* got to keep these guys employed between movies.

yes but why do they have to be advertisers?
Posted by: marinobean | February 27, 2007 at 04:47 AM
and why as crappily as the Norris spot?
at least Seagal was making fun of himself, the writing was passable.
there's no excuse for the Norris bit, just too shoddy, both concept and execution.
