Today's news in AdAge that Publicis might be contemplating a takeover of Interpublic must have sent The Poisoned Dwarf into paroxysm's of rage. I wouldn't want to be in "The Basement Lair" right now. Can you imagine? If the deal goes through it will put WPP firmly in its place... Number two and trailing by a few billion! It will also, in my humble opinion, be a giant fuck up for the ad biz. It's bad enough now with the big four who've gobbled up just about every agency in Christendom, and in the continuing quest to "Make the numbers" every quarter has reduced what we do to working in a sausage factory. As I've recently posted, when big accounts are won on the basis of offering a better ROI, rather than better work, it's almost over. OK, the independents will survive and small shops will always be around to service small clients. But the big clients will be served by BDA's which are data, service and financially driven. They will continue to pay lip service to the work... But in reality, they won't give a rats ass. WPP might as well go back to making supermarket trolleys. It's no different than making sausages!
Bloody hell, I'll never be able to afford that villa in St Tropez at this rate!

actually they make plastic bathroom holders and they're still in business (they're even part of Sarbanes Oxley StraightJacket scope - report is available upon request...)
