Would agency.com rush a dozen "Blimpies" over to Barney's right away?
OK, so I waited a week before posting on the really, really, fucking pathetic Agency.com, so called “viral” video they had the nerve to post on YouTube in what they considered to be a “really cool dude-ish move” to win Subway’s giant, horrible sandwich account. Everyone and his uncle has posted on the awfulness of both the idea and its execution. So fuck it, I’ll throw in my ten cents. Tom the CD needs to get TV’s “Queer Eye” gay guys to give him a severe going over. The unlaundered shirt, the five day stubble and the grotty baseball cap just make me glad I’m not watching it on smelly-vision! All that “cool,” “dude,” high fiving, knuckle thumping makes them look like a bunch of brain dead teenagers. And the funniest thing of all is when they go out on the street and ask average consumers what they think about Subway… ‘Cos they do it on fucking Madison Avenue. They even show the fucking street sign as if they’re proud of it. All of which goes to prove what I’ve always said… The people in advertising have no connection to the way 90% of America lives. They don’t buy fucking Subway sandwiches on Madison Avenue. Even the people who work in agencies on Madison Avenue don’t buy Subway sandwiches there.
Yeah... "Viral" my ass!

I was wondering how long it was gonna take you to get around to this...

George:
You point out that "The people in advertising have no connection to the way 90% of America lives."
Which is why the whole "consumer generated content" concept is gaining ground.
Sad - but true.

Give 'em a break... it's really the delivery guys fault, all they heard was "subway" when he was explaining why it took so long to deliver the platter of sandwiches from Jean Georges to the agency.

Jesus Edward... That's pretty damn funny! In true creative wanker fashion, in a couple of years I'll claim that as one of my own!
And Jetpacks... Dead right. Unfortunately most of those generating content don't work at MickieD's, they're looking to break into advertisng and perpetuate the scam!!!
